A Healthy Addition to Your Morning routine
School is back. This means for back to routine for the next 9 or so months. The mornings can be hectic, and as a nutritionist there a many, many things I would love people to change about breakfast. However, as a busy mum and health professional I understand that sometimes changes happen slowly, on an incremental basis. I see mainly women in my consults. Of varying ages and stages in life. I sometimes even see women juggling breast feeding, other small children and whilst conducting a consult over skype . I see working mum's that are so busy hurrying to get everything organised before they do the school drop-off then take off their Mum-hat and pop on their professional-hat as they walk in the office doors. The problems is we sometimes forget to look after ourselves. It can get to lunchtime before you realise that you have not consumed a single drop of water.

The things is, hydration and water are vital to the functioning of so many aspects of our physiology including aiding in the preservation of the health of our the kidneys. The impacts of dehydration on brain function can be seen as fatigue, decreased motivation, changes in mood, attentiveness and memory ( Popkin, D'Anci, & Rosenberg, 2010). Constipation and headaches might also be otherways of your body letting you know that it needs more water.

So here is my challenge to you ladies. Start your day with a glass of water....and if you are up for the challenge get the rest of your family doing the same!
